Jacobi & Co is the independent practice of Jayden Jacobi. Seven of my nine years in delivery were spent in New Zealand — building an Auckland consultancy, coordinating state housing developments, running a national account and delivering energy connection programmes. I am now based in Melbourne and still take New Zealand engagements.

How New Zealand organisations engage the practice.

Remote-first delivery management with travel for the moments that need it. The sector knowledge is local, which is the part that usually takes an offshore consultant a quarter to acquire.

Programme and project delivery

Named accountability for a New Zealand programme end to end — schedule, dependencies, financials, contractor coordination and governance reporting. Run remotely from Melbourne on a shared working day, with travel across for mobilisation and key milestones.

Energy and infrastructure connections

Electricity and gas connection projects with physical dependencies and external contractors: managing contractor schedules, owning project financials, resolving customer escalations and administering contract variations. Unforgiving work where the customer cannot be asked to wait another quarter.

Service delivery and national accounts

Owning delivery for a national account or service estate — escalation management, SLA performance, third-party product support and the customer relationship itself. Rebuilding the workflow rather than staffing around the problem.

Pre-construction and handover coordination

Shepherding developments through the awkward seam between planning and delivery, where good intentions usually go to die. Facilitating pre-construction processes and tightening stakeholder alignment across the handover.

A good fit

  • A permanent employed role rather than a contract or fixed-scope engagement.
  • Building software or engineering the product itself — I manage delivery, not development.

The usual questions.

Do you take on New Zealand project management work?
Yes. Seven of my nine years in delivery were spent working in New Zealand, and it remains a core market for the practice. I am now based in Melbourne and run New Zealand engagements remotely, travelling across for the milestones that need me in the room.
Does the time zone cause problems?
Very little. Melbourne is two to three hours behind New Zealand depending on daylight saving, so we share most of the working day. In practice I start early and your afternoon is fully covered.
What New Zealand sectors do you know?
Electricity and gas connections and the contractor ecosystem around them, state and public housing development, national retail technology estates including fuel and ATM networks, and IT service delivery. I have worked inside all four in New Zealand rather than reading about them.
Do you understand New Zealand delivery context?
I co-founded and ran an Auckland IT consultancy for four years, so I know the local vendor market, the contractor landscape and how public sector procurement and pre-construction processes actually move. That context takes an offshore consultant months to acquire.
Will you travel to New Zealand for an engagement?
For workshops, steering committees, site visits and mobilisation, yes — factored into the fee and agreed upfront. Routine coordination stays remote so the budget goes into delivery rather than airfares.
Do you invoice in New Zealand dollars?
Yes. New Zealand engagements can be quoted and invoiced in NZD, so there is no currency exposure on your side of the arrangement.
